Girls Junior Varsity Gymnastics, Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Mighty Silver & Royal Blue Athlete of the Week

The gymnastics coaches have nominated senior Brielle Richardson for athlete of the week. Brielle has been a member of the Gymnastics team since 7th grade and is now a Senior and second-year captain. Her natural talent, power and hard-work have made her a top gymnast in the conference. Despite having to work through multiple injuries to start the season, she was named one of the “Stars of the Meet” after her performance in the teams’ first competition against Edina last week. She finished 3rd on Vault, 2nd on Balance Beam and 3rd in the All-around Competition. She will continue to be an anchor for the Varsity team this season. Congrats Brielle, and good luck the rest of the season!

Brielle, it’s meet day, do you have a snack or meal you like to eat?

I always have bananas on meet days. I also drink a lot of water, I like lemon water the best.

What is your greatest athletic accomplishment so far?

Sticking with my sports, even though I am having knee and wrist trouble. persevering through injury and continuing to compete.

What is your favorite event at a gymnastics meet?

Bars, because it’s the most fun, and so different from what you can do in any other sport.

If you had to get stuck in an elevator with one teammate, who would it be?

It would probably have to be recently graduated Grace O’Neil, because she is very calm and is very organized. She would think of a way to get us out of there.

Do you have any superstitions?

My grips have to be on perfect. They can’t be too tight or too lose, or bars will go horribly.

What is the coolest gymnastics gym you have ever been to?

Gustavus. It’s the nicest I’ve seen, they have a pit, and their floor is really bouncy.
