The Apollo and Athena awards are given out annually to the outstanding senior male and female athletes at Hopkins High School. The class of 2015 Apollo award winner is Harry Momoh and the Athena award to Samantha Seliger-Swenson.
Harry Momoh has lettered in football 4 years, playing on the varsity team since 9th grade. This past season Harry was named , KARE11 all metro first team, Minnesota Vikings all state, Star Tribune second team state, Lake Conference defensive MVP and Lake Conference co-MVP. Momoh also has his name on the track record board at the stadium. As a junior, he was part of the 4×100 relay team that finished in a blazing 42.51 seconds, a school record! Harry contributed to the Hopkins Royals boys track team winning the state championship in 2014. Next year, Harry will play football for the Wyoming Cowboys.
Samantha Seliger-Swenson lettered six times, and was on the varsity volleyball team since 7th grade. She was named all conference 5 times, and named all metro and all state during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She has also earned the titles of Miss Volleyball, and Minnesota Player of the Year. Swenson has been named a high school All American ten times in three years by USA Today, Prep Volleyball, Under Armour and Max Preps. Swenson was recently named Gatorade Player of the Year, and was a national finalist for player of the year. Swenson, who was ranked the 8th best recruit in the country, graduated in January to begin her academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota.
