Robotics Competition teams were given the 2017 challenge, Steamworks, the first week of January. They had 6 weeks to design, prototype, build, troubleshoot and program a robot to compete 3 on 3 in regional competitions. Teams are randomly put into three team alliances to attempt to score the most points by placing gears on the “airship”, shooting “fuel” into the “boiler” and finally climbing a rope to board the “airship” before the end of the match. The top ranked teams at the end of the seeding matches on Friday will compete in the elimination bracket on Saturday afternoon. Students attending Friday’s competition will see over 60 teams from across Minnesota, Missouri, and even a team from the Czech Republic! Each team will showcase their student designed and built robot…over 60 different solutions to the problem presented them. Attendees will be able to tour the pits where students are fixing broken robots and prepping working ones for the next match. All the teams will be happy to share their experience and explain how their robot works with anyone who asks them.
At Williams Arena, concessions will be provided.
