Game Recap

“Finding ways to win” is the usual theme at sections time. On Thursday, the Royals found their ways. Riding a strong tandem pitching performance from co-Captains Makenzie Merritt and Kirsten Magaard, the Royals downed the Armstrong Eagles 4-2. The Royals usual potent offensive attack was held to 1 hit. Using Eagle errors, hit by pitches, and walks, Hopkins put up 4 runs. Parker Stoddard and Evelyn Barczak drove in runs for the favored Royals. The M&M combo of Merritt and Magaard scattered four hits and the Royals defense shut down Armstrong. The Royals advance to face conference rival Edina in the Section 6AAAA semi-finals at Hopkins on Tuesday.
