Sophomore boys lacrosse goalie Ben Serstock is the Mighty Silver & Royal Blue athlete of the week. This past week, Ben was in net for 3 games and compiled 63 saves with a save percentage of 60%. He had 26 saves alone against conference powerhouse Wayzata. A lacrosse goalie has to be fearless, facing hard shots nightly with limited padding.  Congratulations to Ben for taking on the challenge and having success for the Royals!

What is on your playlist on game day to get you pumped up?

I have a lot of the new Kanye album, I have Panda on there, All I do is win, shots by LMFAO

Do you have any superstitions?

I go through a lot of pre game routines, I touch my stick left, crossbar, right, crossbar, right, crossbar, left. I do that every time I run up to the net. I’ve done that since 5th grade.

Which athlete do you admire the most?

Scott Rodgers, he is the goalie for the Ohio Machine in the pro league. He puts in work, he does everything, always lifting, and I follow him on instragram so get ideas on workouts.

What type of shot do you least like to see as a LAX goalie?

I don’t like anything low. The worst is my left foot area, because its the opposite of where my stick is at.

What’s the worst injury you’ve had as a LAX goalie?

I dislocated my knee last summer at camp. I actually got lucky it wasn’t worse. I played the next week.

Is there a certain meal or snack that you eat on game day?

I always have a sandwich at lunch, the same croissant with turkey and colby jack. I try to have some sort of fruit before the game. Apples and peanut butter before games and practices.

What is your favorite class that you have taken at HHS?

Pre calculus with Jay Katzenmeyer. It’s been every other day but it’s fun, and consistent.

If you had to get stuck in an elevator with one teammate, who would it be?

I’d have to go with Nick Culp. He’s always joked that he’s my dad, he’s been a good guy.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

I would go with super speed since I’m not a fast guy. I think it would be fun to have flash speed.
