This week we are recognizing junior cheerleader Suzana Jackson. Suzana has been a Hopkins cheerleader for 3 years, and a captain on the past 2 years. On October 10th, Suzana tried out for the MCCA All State Cheerleading Team. 98 cheerleaders tried out for the team and only 28 athletes made the team. Suzana is the first Hopkins Cheerleader to make the All state team. Head coach Nanette Kortuem said of Suzana, “She is a great leader in cheerleading and a leader outside of cheerleading as well.” Congratulations to Suzana!
Suzana, it’s game day, what are you eating?
If it’s a home game, I get a walking taco from the concession stand. Oh and a Sprite.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
Because I didn’t even make varsity my first year, and then I was a captain the next year, I would say that is my greatest accomplishment. Hard work and dedication showed up, and my coach saw how hard I worked.
What’s on your pre game playlist to get you pumped up?
I listen to a lot of Andy Mineo and a lot of artists people don’t know, a lot of Christian rap. K Camp.
It’s 5 years from now, what are you doing?
I hope to be doing a semester in LA and maybe going to Columbia in Chicago, possibly an art school focusing on music and art.
Do you have any superstitions?
No, I’m the opposite. However, me and my team pray before every game. Hoping no one will get hurt.
Where is the coolest place you’ve ever cheered?
At Target Center when the boys were in the state game. My first time going, it was crazy!
